Sarah Beeny calls on homeowners to give their property a makeover and help Housing Rights Service with ‘Architect in the House’ TV presenter and property expert Sarah Beeny is calling on homeowners to kick-start their dream home improvement projects by getting some expert advice from an architect in aid of Housing Rights Service, the leading specialist housing advice charity. Architect in the House is the hugely successful fundraising initiative run each year by the national charity Shelter and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), in which architects give up their time to offer hour-long consultations to the public in return for a £40 suggested donation. This year the initiative has been extended to include Northern Ireland where Housing Rights Service will partner with the Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA). Whether it’s building an extension, knocking through a wall or a complete renovation, the scheme is a fantastic opportunity for homeowners to discuss their ideas with an RSUA chartered architect while raising money for Housing Rights Service. You can register at www.architectinthehouse.org.uk until 3rd July and participants will then be matched with architects in August with consultations taking place any time up to the end of November. Sarah Beeny, founder of property website Tepilo.com, said: “I know how daunting it can be to embark on a home improvement project, but whatever the size and scope of your plans, consulting an architect can help you take that first step to turning your home improvement dreams into reality. Whether it’s a newly-bought property you’re planning to renovate or want to create extra space for a growing family, architects can add huge value by sharing their design expertise advising on fixtures and fittings, and even finding builders to carry out the work. Architect in the House is a great way to make the most of their experience while raising money for Housing Rights Service and Shelter at the same time.” Frank McCloskey, Director of the RSUA, said: "Architects in Northern Ireland are delighted to be on board with this successful scheme which benefits homeowners and the local charity, Housing Rights Service." An RSUA chartered architect has the experience to see your project successfully through to completion. So if you have been thinking about making changes to your home, why not take part this year to see how an architect can help you achieve your aspirations and vision. Janet Hunter, Housing Rights Service Director said: "We are delighted to be participating in this year’s Architect in the House with the Royal Society of Ulster Architects. This unique campaign will help local people improve their homes and enable Housing Rights Service to provide vital housing advice to people who are homeless.” |
