It is important to Housing Rights Service that our work has a positive impact on society. In addition to the work we do to achieve our mission we are committed to the principles of corporate social responsibility. We want to promote health and wellbeing in our workplace and encourage staff to get involved in activities that have a positive impact on others.
Volunteering and fundraisingOver the past year staff have been involved in a number of events which have raised funds for a variety of local and national charities. These include the Belfast City Marathon, Sports Relief 2010 and Jeans for Genes day. A team of staff travelled to Beius in Romania in October 2010 as part of Habitat for Humanity NI's Big Build 2010. This project saw volunteers from Northern Ireland build new homes for 12 families.
Reduce, Reuse, RecycleHousing Rights Service is committed to improving our environmentally friendly credentials wherever possible. We have been using renewable energy resources since July 2008. We use recycled ink cartridges for 98% of our inhouse printing. For each batch of ink cartridges that we send to be recycled, Action Cancer receives a charitable donation. We ensure that all our out of date and broken electronic equipment is destroyed in an environmentally sound method, using Extern Recycle. The majority of materials used by staff at Housing Rights Service are recycled on a regular basis by Bryson Recycling. We have implemented a cycle to work scheme and Translink's Taxsmart scheme to encourage staff to use environmentally friendly modes of transport when travelling to and from work. We encourage staff to be environmentally sound in their business practices and to reduce, reuse and recycle wherever possible. |
