Innovations in Advice Print E-mail

At Housing Rights Service we are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve our services and expand our geographical reach.  We are committed to working in partnership with other agencies to improve access to advice for people who are harder to reach.

With this in mind, we have developed the following services

Preventing Possession Initiative

The Preventing Possession Initiative was established to address the growing need for free advice and representation for people who are facing the trauma of repossession.  The initiative follows a twin track approach;

  • providing free advice and representation to people facing the imminent threat of repossession through the Court Representation Scheme
  • engaging in preventative policy work with social housing providers and lenders to reduce the likelihood of people reaching this point of crisis.  Visit our blog to find out more.

In March 2010 we launched a new Tenant Debt Advice Service which offers specialist advice and representation to tenants of partner housing associations who are in rent arrerars.  This service is proving to be a great success.
