Dealing with Housing Debt Print E-mail
Many clients experiencing financial difficulties may struggle to meet their mortgage or rental payments and could, therefore, be at risk of losing their homes. This entry level course is designed to equip advisers with an understanding of housing debt. It will enable them to provide practical guidance and suggest appropriate actions to allow clients to avoid repossession/eviction due to arrears.

This one day course will include

  • Defining debt advice
  • Perceptions and reasons for debt
  • Prioritising debt
  • Maximising income
  • Dealing with emergency debts
  • Making realistic proposals


This course does not require any prior knowledge or experience of debt advice.


Who Should Attend?
This course will be of particular interest to welfare rights/ housing advisers and other voluntary and statutory sector workers who deal with housing debt issues.
