Legal Fellow

Salary Scale:  NICS AA £25,796 per annum (August 2025 pay scale) 

Location:  Skainos Centre, Belfast (option for hybrid working)  

Hours:  37 hours per week 

Employment period:  Upon successful completion of the 24-month fixed term training contract, the Legal Fellow agrees to work for Housing Rights for further 12 months within our legal team

About the role

Housing Rights is offering an amazing opportunity for an aspiring solicitor. The successful candidate will be awarded a training contract with a competitive salary throughout the training period, and on completion, will progress into a role within our legal team.

You will work within our legal advice team, playing a key role in promoting social justice in Northern Ireland and helping us achieve our vision of everyone having a home. You will do this by contributing to legal advice, advocacy, and representation on behalf of clients. You will also contribute to the organisation’s policy, training, and legal information work.   

About you 

You will hold: 

  • a law degree or relevant equivalent degree AND an offer from the Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS) of a place on the Northern Ireland solicitor’s vocational training course in September 2025

You will have: 

  • experience of working to promote social justice
  • experience of writing or presenting information to a range of audiences
  • experience of analytical skills and the ability to form persuasive evidence-based arguments
  • knowledge of social justice issues relevant to vulnerable and disadvantaged groups
  • skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
