Overview

Welfare Reform poses a number of issues, in particular for those living in temporary accomodation and trying to move into the private rented sector. Training on Becoming Rent Ready will give participants an understanding of issues such as completing an application for Universal Credit, rent in advance, waiting days and accessing discreationary payments and rate aid.

Outcomes

This course will:

  • empower staff and volunteers to deliver appropriate advice and support to people dealing with housing issues arising from the implementation of Universal Credit.
  • develop the financial capability of key frontline staff/ volunteers, to enable them to provide essential support to people moving into permanent accomodation.

Who should attend

This course will be of particular importance to housing advisors, benefit advisors, community/ residents groups, political party constituency staff, private, social and hostel accomodation providers and anyone providing training and advice on housing issues.
