028 9024 5640: Housing & Debt Helpline for Northern Ireland

3 hours

With more people presenting as homeless, advisers need to have a greater understanding of the homelessness tests applied by statutory agencies.

On completion of this course, you will be able to help a client apply to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) if they are homeless and understand how a client is assessed as homeless. This course will give you a stronger understanding or a revision of the tests and processes associated with becoming a Full Duty Applicant

In 2-3hrs, you will understand:

  • the process when someone presents as homeless,
  • how to assess if a client is a Full Duty Applicant (FDA), in relation to the Housing (NI) Order 1988,
  • the levels of duties owed by the NIHE.

What you need to get started:

  1. Access to a computer, laptop or mobile device
  2. Internet access
  3. Access to headphones for videos

This course will be beneficial to:

  • housing advisers
  • community/residents groups
  •  benefit advisors
  •  political party constituency offices
  • private, social and hostel accommodation providers
