Rent control for private renters in Northern Ireland

Private renters can share their thoughts about rent control in a new survey.

Rent Control

Rent control limits how much a landlord can charge in rent. Controls can

  • freeze rents at current levels
  • decrease current rents
  • set maximum rents
  • limit how much landlords can increase rent

Plans for rent control in Northern Ireland

A new law allows the Department for Communities to introduce more rent controls. The Department wants to hear renters' thoughts on this issue.

This is your chance to influence what happens to rents in Northern Ireland.  Your answers to this survey could help shape rent control  in Northern Ireland.

The Chartered Institute of Housing is carrying out this survey on behalf of the Department for Communities.
